Love and Kindness During This Pandemic

Covid-19 has brought out love and kindness in communities around the world. One translation of today’s verse (1Cor 13:4) says, “love looks for a way to be constructive.” In other words, love looks for ways to improve someone else’s life. Not just in word but in action. Love brings out the best in other people. Don’t just get up in the morning and think about yourself, or how you can make your own life better. Think about how you can make someone else’s life better.

Ask yourself, “who can I encourage today?” “Who can I build up?” Someone in your life needs your encouragement. Someone in your life needs to know that you believe in them. Someone in your live needs food, or a computer. I believe God will hold us responsible for the people He’s put in our lives. He’s counting on us to bring out the best in our family and friends.

Today, how will you improve the lives of those around you? Will you give them confidence? Will you bring a smile to someone’s face? Ask the Lord to give you creative ways to invest in those around you. As you sow seeds of encouragement and bring out the best in others, God will send people along your path that will build you up too, and help you move forward into the blessing He has in store for you!

“…love is kind…”

(1 Corinthians 13:4, NIV)

Pray With Me
Yahweh, thank You for loving me and for being kind to me and my family. Father, thank You for believing in me and always building me up. I ask that You show me creative ways to encourage and build up the people around me. God, help me to be an example of Your love today, and always seek to lift the spirits of those I come into contact with during this difficult time, in Christ’s Name! Amen.

He Can Restore My Soul

After listening to survivors of covid-19, they all mention how weak they were, their strength and energy needed to be restored. God wants to restore not just your strength but also your soul, your mind, your will and your emotions today. You are a three-part being: mental, physical and spiritual. God wants to restore the spiritual you, which will give you the will and power so the other parts can be restored.

Our scripture today uses the word soul – the total you – but mainly your mind/heart is where you may store hurt, disappointments or brokenness from the past. But when God restores your soul, He brings His healing power into those broken places. When God restores you, He makes you better off than you were before. He makes you stronger, more alive, more loving and complete!

Today, He leads us beside still waters. He makes us lie down in green pastures. This is a picture of rest. While physically resting our bodies get replenished, when we are resting in Him, He is able to do a work in our lives. He is able to bring about restoration. Don’t let the busyness of life keep you going so fast that you don’t stop and rest. Take time to be still before the Lord, and let Him restore your soul, which will build your immune system, so you can fight off physical, mental and spiritual contamination.

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul…”

(Psalm 23:1–3, ESV)

Pray With Me
Yahweh, thank You for leading me into a place of rest for the entire me. Thank You Father for the promise of restoration. God, I surrender my brokenness to You, and open my heart to receive Your healing. Please restore my soul, in Christ’s Name! Amen.

Where Is Your Faith?

Covid-19 has tested our faith and our belief in God. Many Christians have placed more faith in Boris, Trump, the government and science, than in God and His Words. Faith is more than a feeling that is only strong when we’re in church or with prayer warriors. Faith is a confidence that comes from knowing God and His promises. When you know a person well, and you know they always keep their word, and they tell you they are coming to your house at a certain time, then you have faith that they will come to your house at that time. You aren’t going to call them just before and ask if they are still coming. No, you trust that they are faithful to do what they said, because they have done it in the past.

Faith in God works in a similar way. When we know God’s character and His promises, and we’ve seen what He has done in the past, our faith begins to grow. That’s why Romans says that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. That’s how we get to know Him. Through the consistency in His Word and the testimony of others.

Today, I encourage you to build your faith by spending time in God’s Word. Get to know Him and His plans that are for your good. By trusting Him that what He has blessed you with in the past, He will do it again, and more. Let faith rise up in your heart and bring to pass all that you’ve been hoping for!

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

(Hebrews 11:1, NIV)

Pray With Me!

Yahweh, thank You for the confident hope and assurance found in You. Father, increase my faith and hope in You. Please show me Your ways as I study Your Word, so I will get to know and trust You. God, let faith rise in my heart as I seek You first in all that I do today and always, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

Created With Gift And Purpose

Covid-19 or your sin doesn’t take away your gift or purpose. God created and designed you for a specific purpose. God has placed gifts inside of you to equip you to fulfil your purpose. He knew that covid, disease and sin would be here, but He still blessed us with gifts and purpose. Do you know what your gifts are? What are you passionate about? What can you do better than other people? What would you choose to do if there were no obstacles? God wants you to develop and pursue the gift inside of you, because your gift is a part of your destiny.

The gifts God gives aren’t just for us. He gives us gifts to help build up other people. You have a specific role to play in the body of Christ and your community. That doesn’t mean God’s going to send you to a third world country or make you preach. But, there are people all around you that only you can reach.

Today, are you using your gifts to build up the kingdom? Are you serving in your local church? Even if you are still discovering what your gifts and purpose are, you can simply take a step and volunteer. Everyone has something to give. You can give a smile, a handshake or an encouraging word. When you step out and serve others, that’s how you develop your gift and move forward in the destiny God has for you!

“Do not neglect your gift…”

(1 Timothy 4:14, NIV)

Pray With Me

Yahweh, thank You for equipping me with gifts and a purpose to fulfil my destiny. God, thank You for walking with me and guiding me to this point in my life. Thank you that covid-19, disease or sin won’t take away my gifts, purpose or eternal destiny. Lord, please show me ways to develop the gifts You have given me, so that I can be a blessing everywhere I go, in Christ’s Name! Amen.

How To Prosper In A Pandemic

During this covid-19 pandemic, consider the trees of Psalm 1:3. Those trees represent power, majesty and stability. Have you ever noticed the difference between a tree planted by the water and a tree far away from water? The tree next to the water is much more healthy and vibrant. Its fruit and blossoms are the most beautiful.

In the same way, when you are “planted” in the Word of God, your spirit is fed, and you grow strong just like the tree by the water. You’ll bring forth fruit in the proper season. In other words, you’ll be in the right place at the right time. You’ll be productive and fruitful. And notice, the end of today’s verse says that whatever you do will prosper!

Today, do you want to prosper in your relationships? Seek God’s Word regarding relationships. Do you want to prosper in your health? Seek God’s Word about healing. Do you want to prosper in your finances? Seek God’s Word regarding finances. Make sure your heart and mind are planted in the Word of God. Let Him illuminate your heart with truth. Let Him water you with His promises. Seek Him, trust Him and obey Him, and everything you do will prosper like a tree planted by water!

“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

(Psalm 1:3, NKJV)

Pray With Me

Yahweh, I love You so much. Thank You for Your Word which is truth and water to my soul. Father, I want to be rooted and planted close to You during this pandemic, and always, so that Your water of life can make me grow and prosper. God, search me, know me and guide me in the way that I should go, as I am planted and rooted in Your Word, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

What Is Spiritual Maturity?

Has the coronavirus tested our spiritual maturity? What is spiritual maturity? I have been around spirituality all my life, battling addiction and bad habits, some that still haunt me. I thought by now I would’ve grown spiritually and become so mature that my habits would have gone. Spiritual maturity isn’t measured by whether you have sin or not, how long you’ve been a Christian, or how much you know, or how often you go to church. Spiritual maturity is measured by the way you treat other people. It’s measured by the love of God you allow to flow through you.

In scripture, 1 Corinthians 13 tells us about the characteristics of spiritual maturity. When we are walking in love, we treat other people with courtesy, respect and humility. Are you kind to the person at the checkout in the supermarket that may be moving too slowly? Are you gentle when you are driving down the road and someone cuts you off? Are you patient and forgiving with your family and co-workers? These are all ways we show love.

Today, based upon scripture we know love is patient. It is kind. It does not envy; it is not proud. It is not rude. Love is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love never fails. Notice that these characteristics don’t have anything to do with feelings. That’s because love is a choice and a powerful principle. You can choose to walk in love toward people even when you don’t feel like it, and that’s a sign of spiritually maturity!

“Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

(1 Corinthians 13:13, NIV)

Pray With Me
Yahweh, thank You for loving me so that I can show love to others. Father, please teach me to be patient and kind, not envious and selfish. God, I want to be more spiritually mature, treating others the way You always treat me. God, I beg for Your power to love beyond feeling, in Christ’s Name! Amen.

Receive His Love

Receive His Love

You’ve probably heard the saying that “you may be the only Jesus someone ever sees.” There may be a desperate person who is in need of something as small as a smile, or a little money, and you might be the best or the only example of Jesus’ love to them! With this in mind, we should look for ways to live with true compassion, and a caring attitude toward others. That’s how you can plant seeds of God’s love in someone. You may not be around to see the seeds grow into a large and beautiful plant, but you could make a life-changing impact.

When others look at your life, do they know that God loves you? Can they see the change in you? Do they know you are a follower of His? Remember, the evidence is in your words and actions. The most important thing you could ever know and show, is that God loves you. His love changes us. His love empowers us. His love takes us to new levels. His love gives us eternal life.

Today, open your heart fully and receive His love. Then turn around and love Him in return by following His commands. Make the decision today to let His love show all over you!

“We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people”

(1 Thessalonians 1:4, NLT)

Pray With Me

Yahweh, I thank You for Your love and compassion for me. Thank You for loving me, for empowering me, and changing me to be more like You. God, have Your way in my heart, so that I can be a shining light of Your love to the people around me. In Christ’s Name! Amen.

God Wants To Tell You His Secrets

Yesterday while on my prayer walk, I felt God speaking to me about some of my sinful traits. I wanted talk to someone, but as a minister who do you share your inner most thoughts with? Who do you share your deepest secrets with? Most people only share their inner thoughts with those who are closest to them. People they trust. People they’ve gone through experiences with. Think about this – who does God shares His secrets with?

Today’s scripture tells us, “Who can know a man’s thoughts except his own spirit?” As believers, God’s Spirit lives inside of us, revealing to us the heart and thoughts of God Himself. He wants you to know what He thinks about you. He wants you to know about the plans He has for you. He wants to show you things you’ve never seen, heard about, or even imagined.

Today, know that you are God’s child, and friend. You are His closest companion. He wants to walk with you, talk with you, and share with you. What a wonderful, amazing thought, during this season of uncertainty we can know God’s thoughts, because He is one with us through His Spirit. Won’t you open your heart today and allow Him to share His deepest secrets with you, because He loves you.

“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.’ But it was to us that God revealed these things by His Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” (1 Corinthians 2:9–10, NLT)

Pray With Me

Yahweh, I am so humbled to be called Your friend. I am honoured to be connected with You, and invite You to please share Your heart with me, and give me the power to accept and live by it. God, today I totally surrender all that I am and want to be to You, please change me. In Christ’s Name! Amen.
